OSINT in Venezuela: number of identity cards

An identity card number is a unique identifier for each person in different countries that apply this same system. Generally, the information on these IDs is confidential or difficult to obtain publicly, but this is not the case in this country.

This is because the electoral records of Venezuela are in the public domain, on the website of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela there is a section to request real-time information from any citizen who votes.

This information is in the public domain by a dictation of the Organic Law of Civil Registry in articles 6 and 59. The official document provided by the Government of Venezuela can be obtained from the website of the National Electoral Council.

To request registrations on the website, all you need to do is have a valid identity card number and then type it into the URL of the CNE website.

At the end of the URL you have to write the valid identifier number of the citizen and you will get public information linked to the unique identifier number given to the person who is your target.

For example, using the number “26210647” we will obtain information about this citizen of Venezuela, the first thing that is most noticeable is the name and surname of the owner of the ID number and other data in the public domain.

Information provided by the Electoral Registry of Venezuela:

  • Name and last name
  • Estado (State)
  • Municio (city)
  • Parroquia (zone)
  • Centro (Name of the place where the voter will vote in the elections)
  • Direccion (address)

I am surprised that this information is in the public domain, but apparently it is. This information can be useful to international authorities and cybercriminal investigators trying to find out the identity of a criminal.
